Looking back...and ahead...:
Eight years ago AOL had a virtual monopoly on the internet-access in Germany
And then came Netscape.
One hour use on the net was billed as Three D-marks ( 3 Euros, something like $5 at todays exchangerate).
Double monopoly really..
A worldwide moneymaking machine..
So it appeared..
AOL went public, merged with Time and Time Warner. Multimillion Dollars worth of new shares hit the market.
The owners turned their shares into cash..
Nothing much was left for new updated inventions and investment.
AOL and Netscape are today obsolete with a bad smell of capital maximization and without much connection to the internet market.
The question is, could the Internet trade monster E Bay end up there as well?
Let us stop at Google for a moment. GOOGLE is the Monstermaster. At the moment at least. But GOOGLE too will eventually fail. GOOGLE made deals with some criminal run countries. That is a point of view. Not for me to comment on. GOOGLE made one bad mistake as far as I'm concerned. GOOGLE did, under the guise of offering free service, take over ownership of my writings,creations;for free, normaly considered to be intellectual property and therefore marketable at or for a fee. And that made me mad...

That will not depend on the users of the system, the members but instead on the maximum profit orientation of the owners of Ebay. At this time they are lax in policing and reluctand to sue. The Mafia will take it over milk the system it for what it's worth and after that Ebay will disappear.
